The body colour is a translucent grayish white,parapodia bright green.The rhinophores milky yellow with dark purple.

Elysia thompsoni is similar to the Mediterranean Elysia timida which feeds on Acetabularia.Nothing is known about the diet of Elysia thompsoni.

This species is one of the "solar-powered" sea slugs.
