Calliostoma ligatum (Gould, 1849)

The shell is chocolate brown to mauve in colour with light tan raised cords.The shell is relatively heavy for its size. The length and width of the shell are roughly equal (up to 3,3 cm).

This snail is found on rocks in the low intertidal zone and in the shallow subtidal zone on large Macrocystis kelp.

Calliostoma ligatum, commonly known as Blue Top Snail feeds on small organism, including bryozoans, hydroids, diatoms, and detritus.
