Lygdamis sp.

This worm is a Sabellariid tube worm.The tube protects the worm from predators, because all polychaetes are soft-bodied.Lygdamis is a nocturnal filter feeder. The food of this worm consists of planktonic microorganism.

The tube is built by active capture of coarse sand, shell fragments or other suitable particles , which are glued together to form elongate cylindrical tubes.
