Platycephalus fuscus, a crocodile fish up to 150cm long lives in protected coastal fortifications, estuaries, coastal lakes and river mouths, it has an extremely high commercial value as it is extremely interesting for spear fishing and sport fishing and commercial fishing.
The fish is readily sold and grilled or fried as fillets.
The large fish varies greatly in coloration, so it can be dark brown, grayish brown, sandy brown, olive brown to almost black, sometimes with darker bars and light spots, and the caudal fin often has a single large dark spot on the edge on the upper part of the fin.
Juvenile crocodilefish have three dark brown bands on the tail.
Not suitable for home aquariums or fish-only aquariums.
