Info

Very special thanks for the first photos of Chasmodes bosquianus to Chris Crippen, USA.

Chasmodes bosquianus is found in bays and estuaries, usually in brackish water; lives in oyster beds, retreats to deep part of its habitat range during winter.
The blenny is certainly kept in aquaria, see the video by Kevin Wilson.

Synonym: Blennius bosquianus Lacepède, 1800

Jumping guard
A jumping guard prevents (nocturnal) fish from jumping out.
Wrasses, blennies, hawkfishs and gobies jump out of an unprotected tank in fright if their night rest is disturbed, unfortunately these jumpers are found dried up in the morning on carpets, glass edges or later behind the tank.

A small night light also helps, as it provides the fish with a means of orientation in the dark!
