Found washed ashore at Gaviota, this inch-long, gelatinous little slipper is actually the pseudo-shell of the sea butterfly, or pteropod, Corolla spectabilis, a type of pelagic sea slug.

Corolla spectabilis Dall, 1871

Corolla spectabilis, common name: spectacular corolla, is a species of sea butterfly, a floating and swimming sea snail or sea slug, a pelagic marine gastropod mollusk in the family Cymbuliidae.

The photograph show a pseudoconch of the sea butterfly Corolla spectabilis, which looks like a "Glass Slipper" often found washed up on the rocks. Firm, clear, gelatinous, 2,5 cm long, hollow inside. The "wing span" reaches 8cm across.
