Scaevius milii is a monotypic false snapper and is found in macroalgae-covered reefs and shallow, muddy or sandy bottoms in nearshore areas and seagrass beds.
Color:
The top of the head is dark olive, the back is lighter and the ventral side is white.
On the snout there are 2 blue stripes, the first between the eyes and the nostrils, the second on the front of the muzzle.
Below the eyes run 2 narrow blue lines that cross suborbital.
