Info
Actinoscyphia saginata is a delicate and fragile deep-sea anemone and at the same time a very successful zooplankton feeder that occurs at depths of over 2 kilometers.
The anemone settles in exposed places on rocks or on dead coral skeletons and waits for drifting or passing zooplankton, which it encloses and consumes with its polyps at lightning speed.
Actinoscyphia saginata has between 130 - 160 tentacles, has a dark brown-red coloration.
Synonym: Actinernus saginatus Verrill, 1882 ·
