Info

Callogobius swifti is found on steep volcanic sandy slopes, under small coral debris and volcanic rocks that were often covered with Halimeda algae.
Strong thermoclines were frequently encountered on these slopes at depths between 40 - 50 meters, so this species is likely exposed to temperatures of about 24 - 29º C.

Males of Callogobius swifti reach a lateral length of 2.3cm, females a lateral length of 2.0 cm.

Etymology:
The species name "swifti" was named after John Swift, a lifelong advocate for grassroots conservation in New Guinea as a board member of Conservation International and a tireless supporter of the local environmental organization Eco Custodian Advocates (which advocates for traditional marine management in Milne Bay communities).
