Info

Plagusia depressa (Fabricius, 1775)

Plagusia depressa is a crab in the family Plagusiidae. The genus Plagusia includes only 5 described species. Crabs in the genus are intertidal crabs known for their speed and agility.

The intertidal crab Plagusia depressa is not well known despite its wide geographical range. In Plagusia depressa the carapace is wider than it is long, depressed, covered with short, feather-like hairs that form a scale-like pattern around flattened tubercles. The color is light reddish, mottled blood red with blood red spots on the legs. The underside of the body is yellowish. The claws have purple spots and stripes. Females are slightly larger than males.
