Colonies of Xenia blumi are usually small to medium sized, they can reach a height of up to 3cm, with the body stem taking up to 1.3cm of the total height.

Living colonies of Xenia blumi are light yellowish, white to brownish, depending on the distribution of the embedded sclerites that provide stability.
Pulsating pumping movements of the polyps have not been observed in colonies from the Red Sea.

Xenia blumi is not offered by importers and therefore does not enter domestic marine aquaria.
