Husbandry

Ellisella cercidia, also knowns as whip coral, can be found in the Indo Pacific. The shot below were made in a lagoon in the Philippines where they was found both in shallow water but also at depths of 30 - 50 meters. The individual lashes can reach up to 2 m in length. So far nothing is known about the care in an aquarium. Due to the expected final size and the fact that is not known yet whether it is a zooxanthellae or azooxanthelle kind the care of this kind is not recommended.

Classification: Biota > Animalia (Kingdom) > Cnidaria (Phylum) > Anthozoa (Class) > Octocorallia (Subclass) > Alcyonacea (Order) > Calcaxonia (Suborder) > Ellisellidae (Family) > Ellisella (Genus)
