Info

Penaeus (Marsupenaeus) japonicus Spence Bate, 1888

The kuruma shrimp is a commercially important species in Japan and in the Mediterranean region around Egypt, Israel and Turkey. It is listed as one of the 100 worst invaders in Europe by DAISIE (2011) because it appears to have outcompeted the native penaeid shrimp Penaeus kerathurus.
