Info

Chaetaster nodosus Perrier, 1875

The photograph of the starfish was taken by Prof. Dr. Peter Wirtz while diving in the Azores.

We currently have no detailed information about keeping this species in an aquarium. To our knowledge, this starfish is not specifically sold in the aquarium trade.

Many starfish are not suitable for long-term keeping and/or are food specialists with special requirements!

When buying starfish, the following generally applies:

You should observe the animal closely.
If you are unsure about its condition, please turn the animal “onto its back” underwater.
The starfish should turn back over by itself within a short time (approx. 2 to 3 minutes).
Sluggish animals or specimens with open wounds should not be purchased.
Careful, slow acclimatization of these transport-sensitive animals is of utmost importance!
