Microeuraphia depressa (Poli, 1795)
The sessile barnacle Microeuraphia depressa belongs to the family Chthamalidae and was originally only found in the Mediterranean, sexually produced larvae were transported by drift through the Suez Canal into the Red Sea (Achituv and Safriel (1980)), thus this route is the anti-Lessepsian migration.
This barnacle occurs primarily on outcropping rocks and crevices, but only very rarely on steep rock formations.
In 2012, it was found that barnacles from the Adriatic differ significantly in terms of transparency and size from the animals of the Levantine Sea in the western Mediterranean.
