Swiftia exserta (Ellis & Solander, 1786)

This very beautiful, colorful animal does not live on light and can therefore unfortunately only be kept in a special aquarium.
And even there, with plenty of food and plankton, feeding is not easy, as even the slightest disturbance can harm the animal.

If you cannot and do not want to go to the trouble of feeding them several times a day, you should refrain from buying them. Light is not important, so rather little. Water movement should be pulsating, i.e. rather strong and weak in alternation.
The current should not be too strong when feeding.

Otherwise this gorgonian can tolerate a fairly good current.
Extremely demanding in the long term!

Ich halte diese Hornkoralle seit gut 3 Monaten und muss sagen, dass sie ein recht dankbarer Pflegling ist und nicht so heikel wie manch andere azooxanthellate Gorgonien. Sie steht in ordentlicher Strömung im Halbschatten und ist meist Tag und Nacht geöffnet. Füttern tu ich sie bis dato nicht, sie fängt sich ihre Nahrung selbst. Cyclopeeze, NanoFood aber auch Mysis, Artemien und Copepoden werden festgehalten und verspeist.

.. so nun nach ~ 3 Wochen...

ich habe sie die ersten Tage "öfters" mal umsetzen müßen um ein Strömungsgünstigen Platz für sie zufinden ... jetzt ist sie fast den ganzen Tag geöffnet zusehen ... also zZ bin ich mit ihr sehr zufrieden ...
