The body is black with rounded dark pink to red tubercles (isolated or in small clumps.Black Phyllidiella is widespread in the Indo-west Pacific and can found on shallow coral reefs at depths of about 1-6 m.
Very similar are a lot of Phyllidiella and Phyllidiopsis sea slugs.
Nudibranchs of the family Phyllidiidae feed exclusively on sponges.
