Neothyris lenticularis (Deshayes, 1839)

The brachiopods are commonly known as Lamp shells.Lamp shells has a dorsal and ventral shell.Their feeding organ are the ciliated lophophores.

The apricot brachiopod Neothyris lenticularis can be found to depth of 3 - 500 m. This species is the largest brachiopod in New Zealand, often found on oyster beds, but also such as rock platforms, walls and sandy rubble.

Size : 41 mm in length, 33 mm width,20 heigh
