Sebastes auriculatus Girard, 1854

The brown rockfish (Sebastes auriculatus), whose other names include brown bass, and brown bomber, is a species of ray-finned fish in the family Sebastidae. A sedentary rockfish found in shallow water and bays, among sheltering weed-covered rocks or around pilings

Biology:
Inhabit rocky reefs, mainly at depths greater than 10 m.
Solitary and territorial, defending a home crevice among rocks. Juveniles pelagic. Viviparous.
Quickly changes color when disturbed or when there is a change in lighting.
Caught infrequently and incidentally marketed as rockfish.
