Info

Clavelina cyclus Tokioka & Nishikawa, 1975

Clavelina cyclus forms colonies, but they are not very thick. The sea squirt is bluish, translucent with a yellow circle. A yellow vertical line is clearly visible.

The sea squirt is considered an invasive species, which is increasingly spreading over concrete piles on the pier and onto adjacent reefs in Thailand, for example, and is becoming a dominant species.

There is a possibility of confusion with Clavelina dellavallei, which occurs in the Mediterranean, is translucent and has a blue vertical line instead of the yellow one.
