Dictyota flabellata (F.S.Collins) Setchell & N.L.Gardner, 1924

Dictyota is a genus of seaweed in the family Dictyotaceae. Species are predominantly found in tropical and subtropical seas, and are known to contain numerous chemicals (diterpenes) which have potential medicinal value.

The brown alga Dictyota flabellata can be found around Costa Rica, Panama, Asia, Pacific Islands,Baja California, California, Gulf of California, Mexico, Chile, Galapagos Islands and the temperate South America. This lovely turquoise hued algae species is always eye catching.

The name "flabellata" means "fan-shaped".
