Info

The vast majority of information sites give water depths between 100 - 200 meters for the Bigeye Bass, however many seem to have "copied from each other" here.

On the page of the Fish Division of the Kanagawa Prefectural Museum of Natural History, Odawara, a fish is reported in the Izena Bank, Okinawa Trough, Nansei Is. (Ryukyu Is.), Japan, at a depth of 740 meters is shown. The photo was taken on July 5, 2005, using an ROV,
(JAMSTEC (Japan Marine Science and Technology Center; Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology).
Pristigenys meyeri has 10 or more narrow red bars on head and body, with irregular red spots and markings between bars, irregular red spots and lines on head, and dark margins on soft dorsal, anal, and caudal fins.
Upper jaw and snout with red spots and lines, irises of eyes are red.
Pectoral fins are clear or pinkish.
This species has been collected in rocky areas, the fish is sometimes caught with fishing rods.

In 2012, a bigeye perch was sold for 1,500U$, which means that keeping it in a large aquarium is possible.
Unfortunately, however, detailed information on suitable feeders is lacking.

Synnonyms:
