Gorgasia klausewitzi is found in caves in the sandy bottom near coral reefs around volcanic islands in the southwestern Indian Ocean.
This species of tube eel occurs in colonies of hundreds.
Etymology. - This species is dedicated to Wolfgang Klausewitz of Frankfurt, Germany, a specialist in Heterocongrinae, which prompted to describe this species, although the holotype, the only known specimen at the time, was mutilated, making a complete description impossible.
In the evening they are usually completely buried for their protection.
