Diplodus prayensis Cadenat, 1964

The species name of the Cape Verde sea bream "prayensis" refers to Praia, the capital of Cape Verde.

Diplodus prayensis is endemic to the Cape Verde Islands, does not play an aquaristic role, but is fished commercially.
This species grows to an average length of 25 cm, with a maximum of 35 cm, and feeds on invertebrates and marine algae.

Diplodus prayensis inhabits rocky bottoms and may be found in deeper waters on muddy bottoms.
