Western Atlantic: Florida, USA and Cuba to Brazil. Absent in the Bahamas.

Biology:
Inhabits caves and crevices or among corals. Solitary or in groups.
Feeds at night mainly on shrimps and small fishes and their larvae.
Secretive and wary.
