The Purple dwarfgoby is only known from a few places in the Solomonsea (Milne Bay (Papua Neuguinea), Normanby Island, D’Entrecasteaux Islands and Ferguson Island).
This endemic species forms groups among branches of Acopora coral, inhabits sheltered reefs in 8-30 m depth.
