Janolus hyalinus is a well camouflaged nudibranch. The cerata are numerous, with rough, spiny surfaces and tapering to points.Janolus hyalinus feegs on bryozoans such as Scrupocellaria sp.

Similar to the rare Proctonotus mucroniferus.
