Janolus anulatus

Profilbild Urheber Jeff Goddard, USA

Janolus anulatus, 2012

Spotted under a small ledge at the end of low tide at Carpinteria. 13 mm total length. This is the first time I've seen this species, and it appears to be a range extension north from La Jolla, where it has been known since 1966.First described by Yolanda Camacho-Garcia and Terry Gosliner in 2006, this species is also known from mainland Mexico and Costa Rica (in Behrens & Hermosillo (2005) it's species #226, Janolus sp.1).
