Description: Colonies are submassive with small compacted columns or mounds. Corallites have thin walls. Septa are thin and irregular and do not form deltas except in colonies in very shallow water. Paliform lobes form a diffuse crown. Polyps are short with tentacles of uniform length.
Color: Dark grey-brown, usually with white mouths.
Habitat: Shallow reef environments.
Abundance: Usually uncommon.
Similar Species: Goniopora columna, which forms thicker columns and has larger corallites.
