Husbandry

“From Veron, J.E.N. Corals of the World.”

Nemenzo, 1955

Description: Colonies are highly fused flattened branches. Corallites are angular and superficial. Branch surfaces are smooth.
Color: Cream or pale brown.
Habitat: Shallow protected reef environments.
Abundance: Uncommon.
Similar Species: Porites deformis, which has more nodular branches, no conspicuous basal laminae and sometimes more excavated corallites. Corallites are similar to those of P. rus. Calice characters are closest to P. monticulosa.

Records from the Red Sea are doubtful.
