According to FishBase, Myripristis greenfieldi is available in specialty stores, but interested keepers should be aware that this soldierfish is nocturnal, meaning it only goes in search of food in the ocean after dark.

In Okinawa, these soldierfish can also be observed near the fishing port.

Synonym:
The species name “greenfieldi” was named in honor of ichthyologist David W. Greenfield (b. 1940) for his published and ongoing research on this genus.
